Prime Circle is the epitome of a great South African rock band success story!
South Africa’s foremost rock outfit have gone from a rehearsal room in Witbank to South Africa’s most popular and talked about band in just two years – now that is a success story!
Prime Circle released their second album Live this Life on 29 September 2005 to media, VIP’s and hugely appreciative fans!
Adding to the euphoric atmosphere in the room on the night was the presenting of a Gold Disc award to the band for achieving sales in excess of 25 000 units for their debut album “Hello Crazy World”. And this debut album is still selling and heading for Platinum!!
David Gresham, CEO of The David Gresham Record Company proudly presented the band with their Gold Award. He says ”Out of all the bands I have been involved with, Prime Circle is by far the most exciting band we have worked with. We’re all looking forward to more Gold Discs for this hugely popular band.”
It is fitting to list as many of Prime Circle’s accomplishments as possible – seeing as they have achieved them in such an incredibly short space of time.
• Prime Circle has been completely embraced by South Africans – the Protea Cricket Team used “Hello” (off their debut album “Hello Crazy World) as their team song!
• Prime Circle’s debut album “Hello Crazy World” yielded four number one singles – “Hello”, “Let Me Go”, “My Inspiration” and “As long as I am here”. In fact, “Hello” stayed in the High 5 @ 5 on 5fm for 21 weeks! And was the most played song on 5fm!
• “Miracle” which is the first single off their second album Live this Life reached number one in just four weeks on The Homebru Show on 94.7 Highveld Stereo. And is now also on the High 5 @ 5 on 5fm.
• The band was invited to open for Live during Live’s Birds of Prey SA 2003 tour.
• Prime Circle shared a stage with Annie Lennox, Indie Arie, Paul Rogers (Bad Company), Katie Melua, Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff etc., etc at the 46664 Concert 2005. This is where the boys experienced one of their proudest moments. At a pre-concert meet and greet, they met Madiba who told them that they are wonderful ambassadors for South Africa!
• Performed at People magazine’s Crystal Awards Gala Evening
• Performed at FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women bash.
• Their songs have appeared on at least 10 locally released CD compilations.
Prime Circle have kept their fans rocking by performing at virtually every festival Southern Africa has to offer! Just a few include:
• Woodstock
• Splashy Fen
• Oppi Koppie
• Aardklop
• Up the Creek
• Mr Price Pro
• Jo’burg Day – 94.7
• ATKV Arts – Bloemfontein

During the past 18 months Prime Circle have played in excess of 350 shows – a gruelling schedule indeed and with no plans to slow down – Prime Circle are ensuring that their presence will be felt and heard all over South Africa constantly! With two tours planned for the end of 2005 – fans all over the country will be able to catch their favourite band in action. Check out their website for gig updates. www.primecircle.co.za
Prime Circle have also shared the stage with some of South Africa’s biggest names in the music industry including – Karen Zoid, Johnny Clegg, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Wonderboom, Arno Carstens, Dozi, Mama Afrika, Watershed…in fact the list is endless.
With all their appearances on TV, radio interviews and their huge print media presence – it is no wonder that these boys cause mild hysteria wherever they go!! The fact that they are just so approachable and such nice guys also helps!
So, what do you do with all this fame? Prime Circle have realised that all the fans out there have made a difference to their life and so in order to give back to the community – they are involved with a safe haven for children in Witbank (their home town). They go and hang out with the kids - play guitar, play games, give the kids parties and just make them feel special - as they do with all their fans!
Live this Life is Prime Circle’s second album and if you haven’t experienced their magic sound - sit back, turn it up loud and enjoy!
They are indeed a South African success story! Not bad for a band who were once referred to as “that band from Witbank”
