Shortly after
arriving in South Africa from the USA Jo joined a latin/jazz/pop
cover band in Port Elizabeth . Over the next few years, a string
of cover bands followed - from country rock to heavy metal -
enabling her to ‘window shop' for the genre she now feels most
happy with: Heavy Melodic Modern Rock.
On the insistence of Jon Buckley, Jo's guitarist in the band
she'd formed to tour “One Woman”
The result: the highly-acclaimed album “icon” (released June
2002), which Jo will always consider to be her ‘first' album. No
less than four “icon” tracks were SA radio hits: “Believe”,
“Remember”, “The Truth” & “Seed”, with a fifth track, “Phone
Booth”, a favourite amongst radio DJ's.
Now Jo Day strikes again. Having left their record label to go
“indie” - Jo, Jon & the B.A.N.D. have released the most
definative Jo Day album to date: “The Truth”. Containing new
recordings of the best tracks from both the previous albums, as
well as accoustic, new, & live versions of some songs and two
music videos (“Above My Room” & “Multiple Oblivion”) – “The
Truth” is set to surpass the success of both “icon” & “No
Warning”.
