Steve Hofmeyr is one of South Africa's best-known singer/songwriters, although is he also known for his acting, writing and poetry.   Was nominated as 32nd and 13th most popular South African of all time in two different polls in 2004.   Born in Pretoria, Steve went to Grey College in Bloemfontein, where he graduated in 1982.   He did two years of compulsory military service before joing the Pretoria Technikon drama school.   He starred in the 1990 Franz Marx film Agter Elke Man (Behind Every Man) and in 1992 joined the cast of M-Net's flagship soap opera Egoli: Place Of Gold. He played the role of Doug Durand on Egoli from 1992 - 2001.
