Darren Simpson, also known as the quirky Wackhead has become a crucial element of Highveld Stereo's Rude Awakening Team and as Master of Ceremonies adds his special brand of irreverent humour to such functions. Hailing from Durban , Darren is a rising star on the South African comedy circuit. He uses his quick wit to interact with the crowd and then lashes into rantings about growing up in Durban , Jehovah's Witnesses, sports – nothing is safe. He has worked in diverse places from seedy comedy clubs, to theatres, and comedy concerts playing to 4000 people. He is in great demand in the corporate world. He appeared on Comedy Showcase on SABC in December 2003, and on Play TV on SABC3 in November 2003. He worked as a sketch actor for SABC 1's Pure Monate Show and co-hosted M-Net's Laugh Out Loud with Rude Awakening anchor, Jeremy Mansfield.
