Born in Komatipoort in Mpumalanga, John (having suffered parental separation at the age of 12 and losing his bread-winning mother at the age of 17) managed to pass Matric and attend medical school. He further obtained a Diploma in Business Management. John managed his own Private Medical Practice for six years and then became Associate Director and then Managing Director of the "I Can Foundation". He now runs his own Human Development company and his involvement with the community includes: being a Trustee member of the International Third World Leaders Association, a Director of Khuphukani Business Leaders Association and President of the Leaders Led to Lead Network. With regards to the electronic media, Dr. Tibane hosted "Focus on Success" on Radio Bop; "Focus on Leadership" on Radio Pulpit as well as appearing on 702 Talk Radio, "Two Way" and "Positive Leap" on TV.
